About emPOWER UP: Independence in the Community
The Independence in the Community program was created by Autistic people for Autistic people, specifically to empower young, Autistic adults to increase their capacity for independence. The program is designed to ensure participants have the tools and strategies to survive and thrive in their daily lives through four core modules: Living Arrangements, Responsible Citizenship, Positive Relationships and Wellbeing.
Program format
emPOWER UP: Independence in the Community is delivered in 4 x 3 hour modules at various time throughout the year. For ease of learning modules can also be delivered as 2 x 1.5 hour sessions over different days. This program is delivered in a blended format – both in person at Stafford and online.
Who is the program for?
The program is suited to young Autistic adults who are ready to or considering living independently – school leavers and above.
Fees
Access to program sessions, tailored advice, and all accompanying resources are included in the cost of $175 per module. This may be covered through your NDIS plan.
Program Modules
The program features four modules – here is a brief summary of the content covered in each module:
Modules listed below run every 1st and 3rd Tuesday of the month, at 5:30pm. They run for 1.5 and are held at our Stafford office and online.
19th May – Living Arrangements
2nd June – Wellbeing pt. 1
16th June – Wellbeing pt. 2
