Empowered Pathways is an Autism-affirming employment readiness program providing individualised, 1:1 mentorship for participants at various stages of their employment journey.

The program aims to empower participants with knowledge and skills required to independently and safely explore their own employment pathway.

Program format

  • 1-2 sessions per week (2 hour sessions)
  • Local meeting locations
  • Consistent mentor, time and location
  • Combination of theoretical and practical activities
  • Ongoing review sessions

What to expect

Session are build around your individual needs and goals and so each session is different. Topics may include:

Knowing your employment goals, strengths and skills

Understanding résumés and cover letters

Travel training for work

Interview skills

Social and business communication

Executive function, energy management and beyond

Who is the program for?

Anyone can engage in Empowered Pathways!

While we previously focused on School Leavers with SLES funding, this program is now open to any Autistic person seeking support at any stage of their employment journey, located in Brisbane or the surrounding areas.

How much does Empowered Pathways cost?

Empowered Pathways sessions cost $80.36/hour, in line with NDIA recommendations. Costs may be claimed through an appropriate NDIS plan or paid privately.

Who are Empowered Pathways mentors?

We try our best to match our mentors with you, based on employment goals and shared interests.

All of our mentors are a friendly and enthusiastic humans, who have been trained in Autism-affirming employment support practices. Mentors typically hold a background in social work or psychology and are often Autistic or neurodivergent themselves.

Where do sessions take place?

We recommend holding sessions in shared community spaces in an area that is easily accessible to you. Generally this means a local community space, such as a library, community centre, university campus, or even a local café.

Community sessions can benefit your mentoring experience by:

  • Helping build confidence in communal spaces
  • Giving opportunities to practice responding the change and unexpectancy
  • Identifying social barriers as they arise

Sessions can also be hosted at our office in Stafford until you are comfortable moving your sessions to the community.
