Empower Autism is committed to working with autistic individuals to empower them to thrive. Our Empowering Abilities Program is an opportunity for Young Autistic Adults to gain an accredited certification in an autism affirming space. Learn foundational skills to assist you in your future study or career goals.
Empower Autism’s Empowering Abilities program is part of the Queensland Government’s Skilling Queenslanders for Work initiative. Skilling Queenslanders for Work focuses on developing an individual’s skills, supporting them to begin a learning pathway to a certificate II qualification and providing direct assistance to those Queenslanders that need extra support to enter and stay in the workforce.
Training will be delivered in an autism positive environment, supporting the development of tools and strategies that best suit the autistic individual as a learner. Empowering Abilities participants will undertake FSK20119 Certificate II in Skills for Work and Vocational Pathways with the Registered Training Organisation (RTO), Carers Queensland Ltd. (Code 32047)
Community Foundation Skills offers assistance to people who need to improve their reading, writing, maths, or computer skills to equip them with the knowledge and confidence necessary to take on further education, training or enhance employment
opportunities.

- This program is for young autistic adults who:
- Want to learn in an autism affirming space.
- Want to gain an accredited certificate.
- Want to connect with like-minded peers.
- Have experienced barriers to employment and/or further study due to language or literacy challenges.
- Are current Queensland residents.
- Empowering Abilities will be delivered in person at Virginia. The program runs for 11 weeks, with two sessions each week on Tuesday and Thursdays from 10am-3pm.
- This program is delivered at no out-of-pocket expense.
